Colourful Eruption

This volcano experiment is really fun. You can do it for lots of things like: when you are bored, if you want to have fun with your siblings and friends or with your whole family.

It is also scientific, why does it erupt and how?

The vinegar causes a chemical reaction with the bicarbonate of soda ultimately forming water and carbon dioxide. When the carbon dioxide escapes the soulotion the fizzing froth is formed.

You will need :

A clear or see-through jar or container.

3/4 clear vinegar.

2 drops of food colouring

2 tea spoons of bicarbonate of soda

First fill your jar or container 3/4 full of vinegar.

Next add 2 drops of food colouring (I used the red food colouring).

After that add 2 tea spoon bicarbonate of soda.

Then watch your volcano erupt with a hissing noise.

Ps: stay away from the froth it can leave stains that won’t go away.

I would advise you to use a surface that is easy to wash down or it might leave a stain.
